![]() ![]() So what I’m going to do next is to set up my output, the output of my sound interface to be routed into the guitar app, so let’s jump in Cubase again and open the audio connections window. So this is a dry signal from an electric guitar recording, and I’m going to reamp this using the orange guitar amp that I have here in the back and I’m going to be using the Austrian audio OC818 condenser microphone. Now the signal that I want to reamp is this one. All right, so now this session I have right now is a jingle that I wrote for a client so let’s start by having a quick listen. Now let’s jump in Cubase and check out how I can set my session for reamping some guitars. In this case, reamping is very practical. So what I ended up with was a dry signal of Jimmy’s performance because at the time of the recording, the guitar player was using a virtual amp on this site and I didn’t want to record that feed, so I just wanted to record the dry signal and then reamp this signal into a real guitar amp that I have here in my studio. ![]() In my case, like on this session, I recorded a quick jingle for a client and I had Jimmy recording to guitars, and we did that session remotely using VST Connect. Now, why would I choose to reamp a guitar? There are several reasons. Usually, I’m going to do this on guitars or on bass, and sometimes on other stuff as well to create some cool effects, could be vocals, could be drums or a snare and stuff like that, but today we’re just going to focus on reamping an electric guitar. Reamping is basically taking a dry signal out of your DAW, out of your sound interface, and send that signal directly into a guitar amp or a base amp to then be recorded using a microphone back into your DAW or Cubase. So I’m going to explain to you the process and the tool that I use to reamp my guitars and also I’m going to show you all the routing within Cubase and how to set that up to be able to reamp your electric guitars directly in Cubase.īut first let’s look at what reamping is all about. I’m going to share with you all of those things in today’s video. Okay, now let’s talk about reamping guitars, because this is a question that I received from a lot of people about how do you reamp your guitars, Chris?
